The City of Rockford has announced that its Commercial Corridor Property Revitalization Program is now accepting applications. The initiative targets commercial and industrial-zoned properties located within specific corridors, including Harrison Avenue from Rock River to South Alpine Road, North Main Street from Brown Avenue to Campus Hill Boulevard, Rockton Avenue from Van Wie Avenue to West Riverside Boulevard, South Alpine Road from Larson Avenue to Bypass 20, and South Main Street from Kent Street to Marchesano Drive.

The program offers forgivable loans covering up to 75 percent of project costs, with a maximum of $25,000. These funds can be used for exterior building improvements and interior upgrades related specifically to ADA compliance in the eligible areas. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis for each corridor until funding is depleted.

According to city officials, the goal is to support property owners in making necessary improvements that contribute to the overall revitalization of these key commercial corridors.
