MERCY ROCKFORD HEALTH SYSTEM: Mercyhealth Welcomes Infectious Disease Medicine Physician

Mercy Rockford Health System issued the following announcement on Sept. 9.

Mercyhealth is pleased to welcome Addie B. Spier, MD, to the Infectious Disease Medicine staff of Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside and Rockton, Rockford, and Mercyhealth Physician Clinic–Riverside, Rockford.

Her special interests include tropical diseases, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and international health. Her strong interest in international health and tropical diseases brought her to a medical school in northern Uganda where she spent a year volunteering, teaching students and practicing internal medicine at two affiliated teaching hospitals through the Global Health Service Partnership.

Dr. Spier offers exceptional care to all her patients. “I believe every person deserves the best care possible—no matter the complexity or the simplicity of the condition they have, and I will always do my best to provide this.”

Dr. Spier earned her medical degree at SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine, Stony Brook, NY. She then served her Internal Medicine residency and completed an Infectious Disease fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles. Dr. Spier also earned a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with added certification in Infectious Disease.
