City of Rockton Administration Committee met July 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Administration Committee to order at 5:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Adams, John Peterson and Dave Winters

Staff present: Chief Dickson, Tricia Diduch and Scott Fridly (5:36 pm)

Absent: Arianne Honkamp

Motion by Mr. Peterson, second by Mr. Winters, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of June 17, 2019. All ayes. Motion approved 2-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

THE MAYOR – DALE ADAMS

Mayor Adams stated that he received an invitation for “Local Officials Day” at the Illinois State Fair on Saturday, August 17th if anyone was interested in attending.

PUBLIC SAFETY & LEGAL – DAVE WINTERS, CHAIRMAN

Mr. Winters stated that Ordinance 2019-14: An Ordinance of the Village of Rockton, Illinois Amending Various Provisions of the Village Code of Ordinances Regarding Tobacco is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on July 2, 2019. Chief Dickson commented that possession will no longer be an offense. The Committee was okay with this.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & BUDGET – JOHN PETERSON

Mr. Peterson stated that Resolution 2019-108: A Resolution of the Village of Rockton, Illinois Approving an Agreement with the Beloit Conventions and Visitors Bureau is also up for approval at the Village Board meeting. Ms. Diduch stated that the Village budgeted $5,000 for this and that the Village gets more than half back from the Beloit Conventions and Visitors Bureau. Ms. Diduch added that she feels that this is a good investment for the Village. The Committee was okay with this.

Mr. Peterson discussed updating the Village website with the Committee. Mr. Peterson stated that he was looking at the website and that he would like the trustees to complete new questionnaires. Mr. Peterson said that many of the pictures were old and that he knows an amateur photographer that is willing to take new photographs and send them to the Village. Mr. Peterson added that he would like to see more information regarding events such as the Rockton River Market, Yeti Fest, etc. on the website. Mr. Peterson stated that he knows the Village doesn’t have much money to spend on this, but thought a few updates would be beneficial.

ADMINISTRATION – ARIANNE HONKAMP

None.

THE CHIEF – STEVE DICKSON

None.

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATOR – TRICIA DIDUCH

Ms. Diduch said that she has meetings next week for the Planning Commission and Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) and that the Holden 10 plans will be discussed along with The Gem Shop façade grant request. Ms. Diduch added that Tony Pipitone’s building in the 100 block of W. Main Street is having improvements done and she encouraged members of the Committee to drive by and take a look at it.

Ms. Diduch advised the Committee that 32 people attended the HPC walking tour and that the next one will be held on July 17th.

Motion by Mr. Peterson, second by Mr. Winters to adjourn at 5:41 pm.
