City of Rockton Administration Committee met Sept. 16.
Here is the minutes provided by the committee:
Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Administration Committee to order at 5:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Adams, Arianne Honkamp, John Peterson and Dave Winters
Also present: Chief Dickson, Dan Barber, Tricia Diduch, Scott Fridly (5:36 pm) and Jodi May
Motion by Mr. Peterson, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of September 3, 2019. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
THE MAYOR – DALE ADAMS
Mayor Adams stated that there was another meeting in reference to the hotel and that he has three solid investors.
PUBLIC SAFETY & LEGAL – DAVE WINTERS, CHAIRMAN
None.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & BUDGET – JOHN PETERSON
Mr. Peterson discussed purchasing LED lights for the downtown buildings. Ms. Diduch had the actual bulbs to show the Committee so they could see what was being purchased. Ms. Diduch explained that the amount being approved at the Village Board meeting would be for the bulbs only and doesn’t include the brackets or labor to install them. Ms. Diduch added that she is able to order a different bulb that looks more historic looking and that the price would increase approximately four cents per bulb. Mr. Barber advised the Committee that these bulbs are the highest commercial grade that they make and that he will be getting bids from electricians to install them. Mr. Barber stated that he would like to have the lights up by the end of October before it gets cold. Mrs. May commented that she will look into programs that the utility company may offer for switching over to LED lighting. Mr. Peterson stated that he will ask the Village Board to approve up to $6,500 which will come out of the business district to cover the other expenses for the lights. The Committee was okay with this.

THE CHIEF – STEVE DICKSON

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATOR – TRICIA DIDUCH
Ms. Diduch stated that she is attending the TIF Conference and Illinois Municipal League (IML) Conference in Chicago this week.
Ms. Diduch advised that she is working on the Rockton Christmas Walk and that there is another meeting coming up for the hotel. Ms. Diduch added that she is also working on code enforcement violations.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
None.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS ALLOWED BY LAW
Mr. Peterson stated that the Rockton Lions Club is going to be decorating the lights poles downtown at 6 pm on Thursday, September 19th.
