Village of Rockton Administration Committee met Nov. 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Administration Committee to order at 5:31 pm. Members present: Mayor Adams, Arianne Honkamp, John Peterson and Dave Winters

Also present: Chief Dickson (5:37 pm), Dan Barber, Tricia Diduch and Scott Fridly

Motion by Mr. Peterson, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of November 4, 2019. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

THE MAYOR – DALE ADAMS

None.

PUBLIC SAFETY & LEGAL – DAVE WINTERS, CHAIRMAN

Mr. Winters inquired if there were any solutions to the parking issues downtown in reference to the lighted Christmas parade for the Rockton Christmas Walk. Chief Dickson stated that they will probably handle the parking the same as they did last year.

Mr. Winters stated that the purchase requisition for Motorola Solutions for two Starcom radios for the police department in the amount of $13,073.44 is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on November 19, 2019. Chief Dickson advised that the two dual band radios were budgeted for and that they will be installed in the new squad cars. Chief Dickson stated that the police department is phasing out the old radios and that this will come out of the drug fund money. The Committee was okay with this.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & BUDGET – JOHN PETERSON

Motion by Mr. Peterson to approve the donation to Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) in the amount of $500 for the Christmas tree recycling program, second by Mrs. Honkamp. Mr. Peterson stated that in years past the donation has come out of the special events fund. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

Mr. Peterson added that the special events application for the Rockton Christmas Walk to be held December 6th – 8th is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on November 19, 2019. The Committee was okay with this.

ADMINISTRATION – ARIANNE HONKAMP

None.

THE CHIEF – STEVE DICKSON

None.

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATOR – TRICIA DIDUCH

Ms. Diduch stated that she is still working on the Rockton Christmas Walk and that she has requested more security to be at the bars on Friday night for the pub crawl. Ms. Diduch added that Veebo’s Pizza will also be located downtown while the pub crawl is being held. Ms. Diduch commented that the “Hot Cocoa Crawl” is almost sold out already.

Ms. Diduch advised that there will be another meeting for potential hotel investors tomorrow at 11 am at Village Hall. Mayor Adams stated that the Village is getting close to being able to obtain a loan for the hotel project to begin.

Ms. Diduch stated that there is a zoning ordinance up for approval at the Village Board meeting on November 19, 2019. Ms. Diduch said that this in in reference to the building at 401 W. Main Street and that the building should look nice when it is complete.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

None.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS ALLOWED BY LAW

Mr. Peterson said that he is starting to book bands for the Rockton River Market (RRM) and inquired if they wanted to have the RRM the last two weeks in May. Ms. Diduch stated that it was up to Mr. Peterson. Mr. Peterson stated that he would like to keep the RRM the same and start in June.

Motion by Mr. Peterson, second by Mrs. Honkamp to adjourn at 5:45 pm.
