City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Feb. 28.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker was in town this afternoon to announce continued State of Illinois investment in the West State Street Corridor revitalization project. The next phase of reconstruction and landscaping from Meridian Road to Springfield Ave. will begin in April and is schedule to be completed this summer. The final segment from Day Ave. to Independence Ave. will go out for bid in the fall with completion set for 2021. Gov. Pritzker was joined at the event by Mayor Tom McNamara, State Sen. Steve Stadelman and State Rep. Maurice West.
