IV. PUBLIC SPEAKERS

1. Prophet Yusef of Rockford, Illinois recited scripture and gave honor to African American Training Instructors who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

2. John Tac Brantley of Rockford, Illinois spoke about ways he is helping at-risk youth in this community. He thanked the Rockford Public School Board for their contribution and making it possible for him to take a group on a recent field trip to an underground railroad.

VI. OFFICERS REPORTS A. Alderman Rose

Alderman Rose congratulated Jefferson High School Engineering Students for winning the Rockford Public High School Robotic Competition. He thanked the City of Rockford Police and Fire Departments and the United States Army for volunteering and presenting information at the competition.

B. Alderman Quinonez

Alderman Quinonez announced the Rockford Park District is currently accepting applications for summer positions.

C. Alderman Tuneberg

Alderman Tuneberg thanked Police Chief Dan O'Shea and the Rockford Police Department for their diligent work regarding several criminal incidents that have taken place on the northwest side of Rockford. He also thanked the public for their patience and understanding while the police investigate these crimes.

Mayor McNamara indicated that every City of Rockford resource is focused on finding the perpetrator of these heinous crimes and he stated that ensuring the safety of all citizens is the city's number one priority.

D. Alderman McNeely

Alderman McNeely shared her feelings regarding two recent arrests where several guns were confiscated. She thanked Police Chief Dan O'Shea and everyone involved in getting those guns off the streets.

E. Alderman Gasparini

Alderman Gasparini thanked Senator Steve Stadelman and Legal Director Nicholas Meyer for the assistance they gave him, Alderman Quinonez and Alderman Chiarelli with issues concerning several local club owners.

1. Motion to Convene into Closed Session in order to discuss Labor Negotiation and Pending Litigation matters.

Alderman Chiarelli moved to convene into Closed Session in order to discuss pending and threatened litigation and labor negotiation matters, seconded by Alderman McNeely. MOTION PREVAILED with a roll call vote (Aldermen Hervey, Ervins and Beck were absent). The meeting convened into Closed Session at 6:18 p.m.

Mayor McNamara called the meeting back into Open Session at 7:23 p.m. and the following aldermen were present: Durkee, Gasparini, Tuneberg, Frost, Thompson-Kelly, Hoffman, Rose, Beach, Quinonez, McNeely and Chiarelli (Aldermen Hervey, Ervins and Beck were absent).

RESULT: APPROVED [UNANIMOUS]
