A campaign to help businesses and health care workers during the coronavirus is being launched.
Mid-West Family Broadcasting in Rockford is launching a campaign to support local businesses and recognize the brave health care workers during this coronavirus outbreak.
The campaign, dubbed Operation Share and Care, is running on all the company's local broadcast stations, according to WREX.
The idea is to purchase gift cards or gifts from local eateries or shopping centers to support your local business and then use the purchased item to donate to health care workers you either appreciate or one that has helped you through the pandemic. All of the gift cards that people buy to donate to the campaign will be donated to one of five different health care facilities in the state: Beloit Health System, Swedish American Health System, OSF Healthcare, Crusader Community Health, and Mercyhealth.
“It’s a pretty quick way to connect two of our key local industries which are hurting in this unprecedented time in the history of our country,” said Steve Summers, morning host on 95-3 The BULL, as reported by WREX. “Our health care workers at all levels need a little break for all the work they're doing to keep us healthy. Plus, it’s been documented how hard the 'stay-in-place' has been on our restaurants so this should give them a boost to get through until this passes.”
Different donations will be accepted through all of the websites that are associated with the campaign. After the donations are made, Mid-West will take the money that was raised and purchase different items, such as gift cards, and donate them.
The campaign is expected to be launched in the next few weeks as Mid-West is still working on the campaign details.
