Village of Machesney Park issued the following announcement on April 22.
At last night's Board Meeting, Mayor Johnson issued a proclamation to Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful for the Great American Cleanup. It was originally scheduled for this weekend, but has been rescheduled. The Village received the communication below from KNIB.
"Being out in the fresh air is the safest place to be so we are having the Great American Cleanup Saturday June 20th from 9am til noon.
We feel that keeping our community tidy is so important and due to the fact volunteers are ready to go, we are moving on!
Last year with 2,200+ dedicated volunteers, Winnebago County was prime example of its dedicated citizens who braved six inches of snow, collected fifty to sixty tons of roadside and street litter making it our best year ever.
We at Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful, in the meantime, urge all municipalities to inform their residents to collect litter in their own area and enjoy the fresh air.
Keep posted at knib.org for updates and other projects. Residents can register on line now under Projects and the form will direct them for the Great American Cleanup. All equipment will be furnished by Winnebago County.
Remember the new date: Saturday June 20th from 9 to noon."
