City of Rockford issued the following announcement on April 25.

In addition to local health systems, there are now two COVID-19 testing sites in Rockford. Both the site at the UIC Health Sciences Campus, 1601 Parkview Avenue, and Auburn High School, 5110 Auburn Street, will test any patient who is showing signs of COVID-19 (temperature, cough and shortness of breath). No appointments are needed.

Here are the differences:

UIC Health Sciences Campus

· Open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or until the day’s supply of tests runs out).

· Testing involves a self-nasal swab.

· The site is a collaborative effort with federal, state, and local partners, including the National Guard, Illinois Department of Public Health, Winnebago County Emergency Operations Center and the UIC Health Sciences Campus - Rockford.

Auburn location

· Open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

· Test is a nasopharyngeal swab administered by medical staff from Crusader Community Health.

· The site is run by Crusader Community Health with support from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
