City of Rockford issued the following announcement on May 9.
This week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded Rockford $275,000 to remove asbestos from the Watch Factory, 325 South Madison Street, and remove contaminated soil from beneath the pavement at the former Lloyds Hearing Building, 128 Kishwaukee Street.
This grant program provides communities across the country with an opportunity to transform contaminated sites into community assets that attract jobs and achieve broader economic development outcomes, while taking advantage of existing infrastructure.
