ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 68: Rep. Cabello statement on FY21 State Budget

68

Illinois State House District 68 issued the following announcement on May 23

State Representative John M. Cabello, R-Machesney Park, issued the following statement today after the General Assembly voted to approve a state budget for FY 2021:

“This budget is garbage. Do you think there any spending reductions? Nope. Any property tax relief for local families and small business owners whose livelihoods have been crushed by the Governor’s lockdown? Nope. Instead, the Democrats’ budget spends $2 billion MORE than last year, a 6.8% INCREASE even though state revenues have fallen off a cliff. Yet they did make sure to give themselves a pay raise of nearly $1,800 per year at time when more than 1 in 5 Illinoisans are out of work. Worst of all, Democrats are ceding an enormous amount of control and authority over the budget to Governor Pritzker with little to no oversight or limitations. They are passing the buck because they are afraid to take any responsibility for their actions that have increased taxes and driven tens of thousands of families and jobs out of Illinois. I voted NO on this nonsense.”

Representative Cabello serves the 68th District, which includes portions of Rockford, Loves Park, Machesney Park and Cherry Valley.
