Several Rockford businesses, including gyms, restaurants and bars, were able to open on May 29, but with reopening comes restrictions from Winnebago County leaders.
"You will see different things going on in each of those environments based on their physical space that they have versus how their business practices occur,” Winnebago County Public Health Administrator Dr. Sandra Martell told WIFR.
To support the local economy, Mayor Tom McNamara is encouraging residents to shop local and within the state.
"Please think locally when you are buying your products, goods and services,” McNamara told WIFR. “Your dollar will go so much farther and stay in our community so much longer if you purchase locally and support local families."
Rockford businesses that were authorized to reopen last week included manufacturing facilities, offices, fitness and health centers, personal care services, retail stores, outdoor recreation, day camps, youth sports and outdoor dining and drinking establishments.
