Analysis: Belvidere pays $5.39 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Belvidere Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84 percent of the $1,233,287 the Belvidere Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $5.39 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Rockford Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Belvidere contributed $1,035,510 to the fund, which saw a $192,788 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $191,818, or 15.6 percent, in 2018. Another $5,959 came from other unspecified sources.
