ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 68: State Rep. Cabello attends White House event on Regulatory Reform

68

Illinois State House District 68 issued the following announcement on July 16

State Representative John M. Cabello (R-Machesney Park) participated in an event at the White House today touting a Governors’ initiative on reducing regulation. The initiative is bipartisan and seeks to provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices directed at regulatory reform and the streamlining of government regulations on all levels.

“On October 21, 2019, the Administration announced the Governors’ Initiative on Regulatory Innovation to extend the President’s historic regulatory reform to every level of government. This initiative, led by Vice President Mike Pence, aims to cut regulations and costs, advance occupational licensing reform and better align local, state and federal regulations. The initiative is working with a bipartisan group of State, local, and tribal leaders from across the country who are championing deregulatory efforts,” according to a background report provided by the White House.

“As I listened to the speakers, including the President, I wondered why our Governor was not here or at least interested in the topics discussed like paperwork reduction, workforce freedom and mobility, American energy dominance, opportunity zones in minority neighborhoods, and so forth. Deregulation is at the heart of the economic success story of the past few years that has brought us record job growth,” said State Representative John Cabello.

“We are currently in the beginning stages of the second economic recovery that President Trump is presiding over. We are climbing out of the gut punch that COVID-19 and the resultant lockdowns have caused. As our economy recovers we need to give it a boost and there is no better immediate help than that provided by a reduction in regulations that hamper economic activity,” Cabello added.

“I was honored to be invited to this event today and I plan on sharing the information that I have attained by attending with my colleagues and fellow elected officials. This is a national initiative supported by many experts and it makes sense to look at all avenues when it comes to restoring our economy and restoring jobs. Our economy is not partisan; it involves the lives and welfare of our citizens and no elected official should ignore common sense advice when it comes to helping to relieve the many people and businesses who are down right now,” Representative Cabello concluded.
