ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 69: Rep. Sosnowski statement on Speaker Madigan and federal bribery charges against ComEd

69

Illinois State House District 69 issued the following announcement on July 17

State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) issued the following statement after the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois filed bribery charges in federal court against ComEd on Friday implicating House Speaker Michael J. Madigan as “Public Official A” the utility worked to “influence and reward”:

“The misconduct outlined today by the U.S. Attorney’s Office is wake up call to anyone who prior to now has not shared our commitment to making ethics reform an urgent priority in Illinois. I agree with the statement Governor Pritzker made today that if the allegations of wrongdoing by the Speaker are true, there is no question that he must resign. We need to come together in one voice as Republicans, Democrats and independents to make clear that we have zero tolerance for public corruption in this state. All of our Democrat colleagues in the General Assembly have their opportunity right now to put the public good ahead of political allegiance and call for Speaker Madigan to resign.”

Representative Sosnowski serves the 69th District which includes portions of Winnebago and Boone Counties.
