South Beloit Fire District responded to 117 calls in 2018 - 5.6 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in South Beloit included 68 fires - 50 structure fires, five vehicle fires and 13 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $230,725 in fire loss - or about $3,393 per fire.

The department also received 45 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury.

The South Beloit Firefighter's Pension Fund, which has three active employees and two retired or inactive employees, was $123,777 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $1,696 for every fire in 2017.
