Loves Park Fire District responded to 187 calls in 2018 - 34.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Loves Park included 64 fires - 37 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 18 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,031,000 in fire loss - or about $16,109 per fire.

The department also received 122 false calls, including 14 malicious calls and 108 other false calls.
