Belvidere Fire District responded to 254 calls in 2018 - 9 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Belvidere included 60 fires - 32 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 18 other fires.

In all, the department saw $477,749 in fire loss - or about $7,962 per fire.

The department also received 194 false calls, including four malicious calls and 190 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury. Additionally, two fire service member were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Belvidere Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 28 active employees and 34 retired or inactive employees, was $31,239 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $558 for every fire in 2017.
