City of Carlyle Police Committee and City Council Met October 26

City of Carlyle Police Committee and City Council met Oct. 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee and and the council:

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jeremy Weh at 5 p.m. at Carlyle City Hall located at 850 Franklin Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. Committee members present included Jeremy Weh, Don Perez, and Logan Speiser. Others present included Chief Mark Pingsterhaus, Mayor Judy Smith, Andy Brackett, and Martha Reinkensmeyer.

Approval of Minutes

After reviewing the minutes from the September 28, 2020 meeting, Logan Speiser made a motion to approve the minutes. Don Perez seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Open Squad Car Bids/Quotes

The Committee opened and reviewed the bids/quotes received. See below.

Wiegman Ford

Truck: 2021 F150 Super Crew $35,900

SUV: 2021 Ford Explorer $33,995

K&J Chevrolet

Truck: 2021 Silverado Extended Cab $32,438

SUV: 2021 Tahoe $40,698

K&J Dodge Chrysler

Truck: 2021 Dodge Ram $30,766

SUV: 2021 Durango $34,155

Approve Purchase of a New Squad Car

After reviewing the bids/quotes received, Don Perez made a motion to recommend that Council purchase a 2021 Ford Explorer for $33,995. Logan Speiser seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Update on New Computer Software

Chief Pingsterhaus informed the Committee that the update will cost more than originally thought. The annual fee could be between $5,000 to $10,000.

Old Business

A discussion was held about having a police presence during Trick or Treat.

New Business

There was no new business.

Any Other Comments

There were no any other comments.

Public Comments

There were no public comments.

Executive Session

The Committee did not enter executive session so there were no executive session items on which to vote.

Adjournment

With no further business to discuss, Logan Speiser made a motion to adjourn. Don Perez seconded the motion. Finding all in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 5:26 p.m.
