SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on Dec. 4.

Miss Carly’s has been awarded the prestigious Commitment to Caring community service award by SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health. The accolade was presented at Miss Carly’s today and is SwedishAmerican’s highest award given to an individual or organization in the local Rockford community.

In addition to the award, SwedishAmerican held a drive for Miss Carly’s throughout the health system in November, collecting four truckloads of toiletry, food and other donated items and raising $2,000 in online donations. Miss Carly’s is a non-profit organization located at 1125 5th Avenue that offers food and toiletries to the homeless population in Rockford.

“At SwedishAmerican, when we say, ‘We care for our community,’ we mean it and we show it in all we do. That is why the Commitment to Caring Award is so important to us. Miss Carly’s epitomizes what it means to care for our community,” said SwedishAmerican Foundation Director Laura Wilkinson. “We knew that we wanted to thank them for all they do for Rockford by organizing a drive to help the non-profit and all who they serve. All across our health system, the SwedishAmerican family showed its generosity once again.”

The Commitment to Caring award is typically presented at the SwedishAmerican Foundation’s annual dinner, but this year’s event was canceled due to COVID-19.
