There were 128 offenders released on parole during the second quarter of 2020 that live in Winnebago County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Rockford Sun.
The data shows that 118 men and 10 women were released in Winnebago County. Of the parolees, three were veterans, and the median age was 37. The youngest parolee was a 19-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2018, and the oldest was a 69-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2017.
The offender incarcerated the longest was John Gregory. He was convicted of a property crime in 2011 when he was 25 years old. He is now 34.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
