Republican state Rep. Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) sponsored a bill that would ban any employer in Illinois from requiring an employee to receive a COVID-19 vaccination shot that was approved under emergency authorization by the Federal Drug Administration.
“This is to protect our individual rights to ensure that no one can threaten employment due to refusal of this vaccine that was approved only for emergency use,” Sosnowski posted on Facebook.
Co-sponsored by fellow GOP House members Chris Miller, Dan Swanson, Martin McLaughlin, Mark Batinick, David Welter, Andrew Chesney, David Friess, Amy Grant, Tony McCombie, Tom Morrison, Dan Brady, Blaine Wilhour, Dam Niemerg and Tom Bennett, the bill currently sits in the House Rules Committee.
With coronavirus infection rates down and shots being administered on the rise, the number of businesses now reopening or offering greater services is on the rise across the state.
