Gubernatorial candidate Gary Rabine recently talked about job creation and solving tax concerns at a breakfast hosted by the Northern Illinois Republican Women at the Stockholm Inn in Rockford.

Citing Iowa Gov. Kimberly Kay Raynolds' and Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb’s performances, he promised to deliver outstanding public service.

“Smart governors know that a strong Illinois in Midwest, makes them strong also,” Rabine said. “Is Kim Raynolds perfect? No. But she does a great job. She really cares about her customer. Is Eric Holcomb perfect? No. But he really cares. I can see it in his eyes, he cares. So that’s what I am going to be. I will be a governor who will deliver unbelievable world-class service to my customers. We’re going to fight the high cost of living, high taxes. We’re going to fight for great culture in our families. And we’re going to be paving the way to stay.”

Rabine believes being a governor calls for leadership.

“You’ve got to fix problems,” he said. “That’s what great leaders do. I guarantee you I don’t sleep when I have financial problems in my businesses. I didn’t sleep when my wife was diagnosed with brain cancer. I don’t sleep in critical situations and I won’t sleep until that problem’s solved.”

“Thank you Kathie Hansen and Rockford’s, Northern Illinois Women leaders Assoc,” Rabine posted on Facebook. “Bev and Vickie are new to this ladies leadership group in Rockford, they were so kind to say that their engagement to lead was in support of our campaign. Vickie coined the term ‘A Ray of Sunshine, Rabine.’ Thank you!”

In a previous interview, he recalled a time when the state was one of the best places in the country to do business. He said he has “seen Illinois go from being the best place to build a business to being one of the worst.”

Fixing problems at hand including job opportunities for Illinoisans is a job he trusts he is competent at, leveraging on his experiences as a businessman leading multiple companies for 40 years.

Rabine is also looking at reducing Illinoisans' taxes which also affect and cause low value on properties. He said other states don't have these problems Illinois has, Rock Island Today reported.
