Illinois 16th Congressional District Republican candidate Catalina Lauf recently condemned Pres. Joe Biden's administration for purportedly failing to put Americans first during the evacuation in Afghanistan.
The Washington Post reported that as of Aug. 16, as the situation in Afghanistan worsens, thousands of U.S. Citizens are still trapped in Kabul with no ability to escape the country.
"As many as 10,000 Americans are still stranded in Afghanistan," Lauf wrote in an Aug. 18 Twitter post. "The Biden Administration said they WILL NOT prioritize Americans over Afghans in the evacuation of Kabul. Joe put Americans last at our southern border and now he is putting Americans last abroad."
Taliban soldiers are reportedly conducting searches for Westerners and U.S. citizens are desperate for help from U.S. 0fficials, according to the Washington Post.
"American citizens’ houses have been ransacked, and they are in hiding because the Taliban are terrorizing and tormenting neighborhoods," a senior GOP congressional staffer told Washington Post. "That’s happening all over Kabul. There are a lot of people who are falling through the cracks. [The administration] didn’t have a plan to handle this on a mass scale. ... For the people in Kabul, they’ve basically said it’s up to them to get to the airport."
The Washington Post asserts that the situation grows increasingly perilous for American citizens and its allies by the hour, and that the Biden administration must put a rescue plan into action before it’s too late.
Haroon, a U.S. citizen still stuck in Afghanistan, described the situation to FOX News as "chaos" and pleaded for help from the Biden administration.
"Please help all these families that are on the street," Haroon said, FOX News reported. "Their kids are not deserving this. They help you and they help America, they help the world. They put their life at risk to help the world, to do the right thing. This is what my family did."
Haroon worries that he and his family are in danger. He tried to get to the U.S. embassy, but left when he encountered Taliban fighters.
"We don’t have safety anymore," Haroon told Fox NEWS.
