Village of Rockton Administration Committee Met Aug. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber, and Lynn Dameron. Gerald Hoffman and Bill Schmidgall were absent.

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Hoselton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the July 7, 2021, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

6. Reports of Departments

→ Streets & Fire – Martin Steidinger, Superintendent & Fire Chief was absent 

→ Sewer – Brad Duncan, Superintendent reported

• A lightning strike on June 24th fried some electrical components at the sewer plant; an insurance claim has been filed however, he would like to order the parts now and get going on replacing the parts. The Mayor authorized the purchase of the parts

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – no report

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief – no report

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported

• The Cruise-In event needs 7 picnic tables

• Asked Nancy (Zoning Administrator) to provide an update on a nuisance property on W Cherry St – 409 W Cherry will be demolished in the near future 

→ Legal – Steven Mann, City Attorney was absent

→ Alderman Norris – no report

→ Alderman Endres – no report

→ Alderman Hoselton – no report

→ Alderman Kinate asked for an update on the shed in Timber Ridge

→ Alderman Weber – no report

A. Motion by Kinate, second by Hoselton to approve the 2021-2022 Annual Appropriation Ordinance. Motion carried 6-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Dameron 

B. Motion by Weber, second by Dameron to approve a request from Dave’s Supermarket to close 3rd Street in front of the store from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10th for their annual Customer Appreciation Pig-Out. Motion carried 6-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Dameron

C. Consideration of an ordinance annexing 808 W Walnut Street, James Olson, into the City of Fairbury - TABLED

D. Motion by Kinate, second by Dameron to approve a $1,000 sponsorship to the Fairbury Fair. Motion failed. 2-3-1. YES-Kinate Dameron NO-Endres Hoselton Weber HERE Norris

Motion by Weber, second by Norris to approve a $1,500 sponsorship to the Fairbury Fair. Motion carried 6-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Dameron
