Of the 64 teams advancing to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) quarterfinals Saturday, two are from Rockford County.
In 7A action, No. 2 Rockton (Hononegah) (11-0) will travel to No. 10 Chicago (St. Rita) (9-2).
On the 3A front, No. 4 Braidwood (Reed-Custer) (10-1) plays No. 1 Byron (11-0).
Hononegah has made the IHSA playoffs 16 of the last 18 years. It last advanced to the quarterfinals in 1996 (5A), defeating Rockford Boylan 20-14.
Byron won its last quarterfinal appearance (3A) in 2018, 49-7 over Lisle. It advanced to the state championship game, losing 24-20 to Monticello.
