The Rockford University men's volleyball team (3-22, 0-11 NACC) fell in straight sets against #2 Dominican University (19-1, 10-0 NACC) on Saturday afternoon. Rockford held the lead for a majority of the first set but collapsed after reaching the 20-point mark. RU tried to rebound afterwards, but Dominican controlled the remainder of the match until the Stars earned the final point in the third set.
REGENT RECAP
- After a couple traded points, Rockford pulled ahead first to a 6-2 lead. Danny Karpenko had an ace for the Regents.
- The Regents remained consistent through the set, holding onto the lead up until the 20-point mark.
- Dominican kept within striking distance of the Regents and finally broke through at 21-20, when the Stars took five of the next six points to earn the first set victory 25-22.
- The Stars dominated the Regents in the second set, holding a 16-point lead at 19-3. Rockford was held to only ten points as Dominican took the second set 25-10.
- Rockford battled with DU for the opening of set three, but the Stars pulled ahead on a four-point run 7-3.
- The Regents were steadily keeping up with Dominican, only down by three at16-13.
- DU then recorded three-straight points to take a six-point lead that Rockford never came back from. Dominican scored six of the final nine points to take the final set and the win 25-17.
- Jose Padron, Nathan Vana, and Connor McNear all had 5 kills.
- Josh Albers had 21 assists.
- Tristen Cox led in digs with 5.
- Isaiah Dixon recorded a team-high 2 blocks.
