City of Carlyle Police Committee met June 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bruce Hilmes, at 5:30 p.m. at Case Halstead Library located at 2111 West Lake Terrace, Carlyle, IL 62231. Committee members present included Bruce Hilmes, Scott Diekemper, and Don Perez. Others present included Chief Mark Pingsterhaus, Brad Myers, and Martha Reinkensmeyer.

Approval of Minutes

After reviewing the minutes from the March 30, 2022, minutes, Don Perez made a motion to approve the minutes. Scott Diekemper seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Rent Generator

Chief Pingsterhaus stated that a generator for the Police Department was ordered last fall, but it has not been received. It is supposed to arrive at the end of July, but it may be delayed again. Chief asked the Committee for permission to rent a generator from Oakley Service Inc. until the one that has been purchased arrives. The cost of the generator will be less than $500 a month. Chief added that there have been several instances where the Police Department has lost power. Scott Diekemper made a motion to rent a generator from Oakley Service Inc. for the Police Department at less than $500 per month. Don Perez seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Part-Time Police Pay

Chief Pingsterhaus informed the Committee that it is becoming increasingly difficult to get part-time officers to take shifts. He asked the Committee to consider raising the current rate of $20 per hour to $21 per hour if a part-time officer, who works full-time elsewhere, works over 60 hours for the Carlyle Police Department. He also asked the Committee to increase the rate to $22 if the officer works over 100 hours. Don Perez made a motion to send the proposed pay increases for part-time officers to City Council. Scott Diekemper seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

The committee did not enter executive session.

Adjournment

With no further business to discuss, Don Perez made a motion to adjourn. Scott Diekemper seconded the motion. Finding all in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 5:53 p.m.
