State Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) was recently named a Champion of Free Enterprise by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
Syverson received the honor for his work to defend free enterprise in the state of Illinois and advancing economic opportunities for all Illinoisans, according to a news release from his office.
"Sen. Syverson has been a trusted leader in the Senate and as business owner himself brings expertise that has been invaluable in representing the concerns of both business and taxpayers," Todd Maisch, Illinois Chamber president and CEO, said in the news release.
Syverson was named a Champion of Free Enterprise in 2020 as well, another news release reported.
"A 'Champion of Free Enterprise' Award is given to the legislator that has shown leadership in supporting legislation and ideas designed to strengthen Illinois' jobs climate," he said in the June news release. "It is an honor to know my efforts on behalf of the job creators in northern Illinois have been rated so highly by the Illinois Chamber. A strong jobs climate helps all Illinois residents."
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce "is a private nonprofit organization supported by member dues, contributions from a diverse group of primarily Illinois-based businesses, and revenue generated by offering HR compliance educational seminars and materials," according to the group's website.
