As we work on improving public safety in our community, here’s a snapshot of our statistics from January through September of 2022 compared to the same time frame in 2021. We’re seeing violent crime down 4% from last year, shots fired down 10% and aggravated assaults down 4%. We see increases in auto thefts, robbery and property crimes. We continue our efforts on enforcement, as well as prevention and intervention. Just this week, we announced that we will create a Community Healing Center at the Boys and Girls Club on Kilburn Avenue with grant funding. Similar to the Family Peace Center model, this Center will be a multiagency, multidisciplinary facility where children exposed to violence and their families can receive healing and supportive services that promote trauma recovery, youth development, and violence prevention and interventions. This is just one of many programs we’re developing to help youth in our community.
