Village of Pecatonica Public Safety Committee met Dec. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

1. Call to Order- The meeting was called to order by Committee Chairman Marilyn Wilke at 6:06 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

2. Roll call – Chairman Marilyn Wilke, and Village Trustees Kathy Doty, Gerald Howard, and Sergeant Interim Chief Nylund were present. Also in attendance was Village President Tom Heister.

3. Additions/Corrections to the Agenda- add #9. Update of Firewall, #10 Impound ordinance, #11 Safety Act update and #12 Electrical work for Police Department. .

4. Approve the Agenda -

A motion was made by Trustee Howard and seconded by Trustee Doty to approve the agenda as amended. Discussion, A roll call vote was taken. All present voted yes. Motion approved 3-0-0

5. Public Comment- None

6. Approve the November 9, 2022 Minutes

A motion was made by Trustee Doty and seconded by Trustee Howard to approve the November 9, 2022 minutes. Discussion. A roll call vote was taken. All present voted yes. Motion approved 3-0-0

7. Review the Current Financials- The committee discussed the current financials

8. Status Update of Recruitment of New Officers- Sergeant Nylund gave a status update on the new part-time officer, he informed the committee that Officer Ferro is back from medical leave and discussed running another ad on the Blue Line website to hopefully recruit a full time officer. Discussion

A motion was made by Trustee Howard and seconded by Trustee Doty to place ad for job openings for an additional two months on the Blue line website. Discussion All present voted yes. Motion approved 3-0-0

9. Update on new Firewall-The Firewall is installed and up and running.

10. Impound Ordinance – The committee discussed the Impound Ordinance.

A motion was made by Trustee Howard and seconded by Chairman Wilke to table the ordinance for 6 months. Discussion a roll call vote was taken Wilke yes, Doty abstain, and Howard yes. Motion passed 2-0-1.

Chairman Wilke will contact the Village Attorney to let him know no additional legal is needed at this time. Chairman Wilke would like Sergeant Nylund to continue to track the offenders that would be included in the Impound Ordinance until it is revisited.

11. Safety Act Update- Sergeant Nylund will prepare an update to be shared at the upcoming Regular Board Meeting.

12. Discuss Electrical work needed in Police Department- Sergeant Nylund discussed the need for additional electrical outlets in the Police Department. Discussion

A motion was made by Trustee Doty and seconded by Trustee Howard to move forward and have County Line Electric install the new outlets. Discussion All present voted yes. Motion approved 3-0-0

13. Adjournment –

A motion was made by Trustee Doty and seconded by Trustee Howard to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:10 pm
