The Rockford University baseball team recorded 16 total hits in its 9-3 victory over the Hiram College Terriers. The Regents offense was rolling from the first pitch, scoring six unanswered runs in the first two innings. The Terriers matched Rockford the rest of the way, each recording three runs before the final out gave the Regents the 9-3 victory. Jonathan Leon made his mark with a 3-for-3 performance with an RBI and three stolen bases.
- The Regents opened the scoring in the first inning. A single by Joseph Stagowski later turned into a run when Ryan Stejskal smacked a triple to right center field, giving Rockford a 1-0 lead.
- Holding Hiram without a run in the top of the second, RU came back up to bat. With runners on second and third, Aaron Monti knocked a single to center field to score both runs and extend the lead to 3-0.
- Loading the bases with zero outs, Malik Abdallah singled to drive in Jake Bilotta and Aaron Monti to make it 5-0 Regents.
- Jared Herzog made his contribution shortly after. He hit a sacrifice fly to left field that allowed Malik Abdallah to come in and score from third to give Rockford a 6-0 lead.
- Hiram got on the scoreboard in the next half-inning, scoring on a wild pitch.
- Rockford quickly got the run back, however. Scott Gowan attempted to steal second, reaching the base safely, but also giving a window for Jonathan Leon to steal home and put the score at 7-1.
- The next run didn't score until the top of the sixth. Hiram hit a double into the left-center gap that scored a run to give the Terriers their second run of the contest.
- Alex Perez and Jonathan Leon combined with a pair of singles in the next half inning to score Ryan Stejskal and Jared Herzog to give the Regents their last runs of the game at 9-2.
- Hiram scored one more run on a wild pitch in the ninth inning, but Rockford recorded the final out right after, securing the 9-3 win.
