Q1 2022 Recap: 2 parolees from Winnebago County convicted of financial crimes or fraud set for release

There were two offenders convicted of financial crimes or fraud living in Winnebago County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rockford Sun.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for financial crimes or fraud was 51. The younger parolee was a 40-year-old man sentenced in 2021, and the oldest was a 61-year-old man sentenced in 2021.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Christopher Grano. He was convicted in 2021 when he was 37 years old. He is now 40.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
