Q1 2022 Recap: 3 parolees from Winnebago County convicted of homicide set for release

There were three offenders convicted of homicide living in Winnebago County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rockford Sun.

The data shows two men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 52. The youngest parolee was a 48-year-old man sentenced in 2002, and the oldest was a 59-year-old man sentenced in 2003.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was James N. Davis. He was convicted in 2002 when he was 27 years old. He is now 48.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
