Q1 2022 Recap: 4 parolees from Winnebago County convicted of sex crimes set for release

There were four offenders convicted of sex crimes living in Winnebago County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rockford Sun.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes, one was a veteran, and the median age was 48. The youngest parolee was a 30-year-old man sentenced in 2010, and the oldest was a 60-year-old man sentenced in 2001.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Kurt D. Larson. He was convicted in 2001 when he was 38 years old. He is now 60.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
