PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

VILLAGE ENGINEER – KEVIN BUNGE

Village Engineer Adam Bunge gave his report. A copy of the engineering status report is on file with the Village Clerk’s office.

MAYOR – JOHN PETERSON

Mayor Peterson stated that there wasn’t much damage from this last round of storms that came through the area, but that we may want to consider reopening the drop off area for tree branches/limbs for Village residents. Mr. Barber commented that he is okay with this as long as landscaping companies aren’t dropping off their stuff there and it’s just for residents of the Village.

Mayor Peterson added that he is still working on putting the budget together.

STREETS AND WALKS – TYLER SEEVER

Mr. Seever stated that the low bid for Center and Chapel Streets was DPI Construction Inc. in the amount of $388,242.77. This is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on April 4, 2023. The Committee was okay with this.

Mr. Seever said that the special events application for the Memorial Day Parade to be held on Monday, May 29th in downtown Rockton is also up for approval at the Village Board meeting. The Committee was okay with this.

WATER, SEWER, & GARBAGE – JODI MAY

Motion by Ms. May to approve the purchase requisition for Ferguson d/b/a Pollard Water for a water main tapping kit in the amount of $3,541.29, second by Mr. Seever. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

Mr. Barber stated that a resident of 2095 Williamson Parkway sent a payment to the Village inadvertently and was requesting a refund for her overpayment. Motion by Ms. May to approve the refund in the amount of $263.15, second by Mrs. Honkamp. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

BUILDINGS AND PARKS – ARIANNE HONKAMP

Mrs. Honkamp stated that that the special events application for “Drive 815” at the Rockton Athletic Complex for the months of June through October is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on April 4, 2023. The Committee was okay with this.

PUBLIC WORKS – DAN BARBER

Mr. Barber advised the Committee that he was redoing the capital plans for the Public Works Department since the Village Board approved the new water and sewer rates.

Mr. Barber added that he and Jake Costello walked the area of the Race Street reconstruction project and that he has safety concerns with the sidewalk along the race. Mr. Barber said that the sidewalk runs along the river and that there isn’t a barrier to prevent a pedestrian from going into the river. Mr. Barber said that it would cost $28,000 to add a guardrail to that area and that it’s up to the Village Board to decide whether to do this or not. Mr. Barber said that he can look into other barrier options as well that may be more cost effective.

PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR – DON SELF

Mr. Self stated that Jalen Ponder (who organizes the “Drive 815” movies) would like to purchase a new screen for the movies at the Rockton Athletic Complex. Mr. Self said that footings would need to be installed in a 4 x 4 area to secure the screen and that he would make sure that everything was installed properly in the approved location.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS ALLOWED BY LAW

None.

ADJOURN

Motion by Ms. May, second by Mrs. Honkamp to adjourn at 6:51 pm.
