Village of Rockton Administration Committee met Sept. 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Danielson called the regular meeting of the Administration Committee to order at 5:02 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Scott Danielson, Dave Winters and Justin York

Staff present: Dan Barber, Tricia Diduch and Chief Hollinger

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. York to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of August 14, 2023. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

MAYOR – JOHN PETERSON

Mayor Peterson advised the Committee that he met with the Winnebago County Housing Authority (WCHA) and went through the Goldie Floberg building with them. Mayor Peterson said that the WCHA is excited about moving forward with the property and that he should be hearing from them by the end of the month. Mr. Winters commented that the Village should start working on keeping part of the parcel for the Goldie Floberg Park.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – SCOTT DANIELSON, CHAIRMAN

Mr. Danielson stated that the purchase requisition for Dekra-Lite for a 20 foot Christmas tree which includes decorations and shipping in the amount of $27,694.10 is up for approval at the Village Board meeting later in the evening. The Committee was okay with this. Ms. Diduch stated that she would like this added to the “wish list” that the Rockton Lions Club was requesting. Mayor Peterson said that he needs an updated “wish list” for the Village.

PUBLIC SAFETY & LEGAL – DAVE WINTERS

None.

ADMINISTRATION – JUSTIN YORK

Mr. York stated that we will need to add an executive session at the Village Board meeting on September 19th to further discuss IT updates/issues for the Village. Mr. York said that he received a quote for a new laptop for Mayor Peterson. Mr. York proceeded to explain the difference between Village owned devices (managed and secure) and personal devices (not managed and not secure) to the Committee. Mr. York added that Mr. Hildebrandt, Village Treasurer, needs a new laptop as well. Mr. Danielson inquired about the plan that Garcea Technologies laid out for the Village and asked how far they are through the plan. Mr. York stated that Garcea is about 99% of the way through the plan. Mr. York asked if there were any issues with IT in the Village. Mayor Peterson said that the water clerk has been having some issues with her computer and that it takes a few hours to troubleshoot what’s going on.

THE CHIEF– MATT HOLLINGER

Chief Hollinger advised the Committee that the Rockton Police Association’s “Blues & BBQ” event is tomorrow evening and to try and make it out. Chief Hollinger said that there a lots of activities which include a 50/50 raffle and several donated items.

Chief Hollinger stated that one of the computers in the squad cars needs to be replaced and that it will cost $1,755 for a new one.

PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATOR – TRICIA DIDUCH

Ms. Diduch stated that the request for proposal (RFP) for the Sonoco property has closed that that there were no responses.

Ms. Diduch said that the planning for the Rockton Christmas Walk is well on its way and that the Rockton River Market (RRM) finished up last week. Ms. Diduch added that the RRM continues to grow and that she may need to move the food trucks next season.

Ms. Diduch stated that the Downtown Rockton website has all of the businesses added to it and that we are good promoting the website now.
