Village of Rockton Board of Fire & Police Commissioners met Sept. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Pursuant to a posted Notice and Agenda, the regular monthly meeting of The Village of Rockton Board of Fire and Police Commissioners convened at 6:30 p.m. on September 12, 2023 in the Rockton Municipal Center, 110 East Main Street, Rockton, Illinois. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Commissioner Connors.

ROLL CALL AND ATTENDANCE

Commissioner Connors and Commissioner Nicosia were present and responded for roll call. Police Chief Hollinger and Attorney Charles Kostantacos were also in attendance. Chairman Stewart was absent.

MINUTES

The Minutes of the August 8, 2023 regular meeting had been distributed to the Commissioners prior to the meeting. The Minutes were reviewed and discussed. Commissioner Nicosia moved to approve the Minutes as drafted. Commissioner Connors seconded the motion and it passed by unanimous roll call vote.

COMMUNICATIONS

Commissioner Connors reported that no mail had been received in the Commission mailbox and the Commission had received no email.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Commissioner Connors revisited the past discussion on increasing the stipends for serving commissioners. Chief Hollinger will be following up with the Council members responsible for budgetary issues.

Attorney Kostantacos reported that he is still in the process of reviewing the language involving the Commission's Rules and Regulations in reference to citizenship questions.

NEW BUSINESS

The Commissioners discussed hiring either I/O Solutions or Stanard and Associates to process applications and administer / proctor the written exams. Commissioner Nicosia moved to proceed with using Stanard and Associates, Commissioner Connors seconded the motion and it was adopted by unanimous roll call vote. Chief Hollinger will provide Attorney Kostantacos with the requested scope of services. Attorney Kostantacos will then coordinate the dates and times of the upcoming testing process. Chief Hollinger forecasted that the written testing will commence sometime in November 2023.

ATTORNEY REPORT

None.

PAYMENT OF BILLS

Attorney Kostantacos presented his invoice for legal services for the month of August 2023 totaling $350.00. Commissioner Nicosia moved to approve payment, Commissioner Connors seconded the motion and it was adopted by unanimous roll call vote.

CLOSED SESSION

None.

OTHER COMMISSION BUSINESS or DiscuSSION

None.

ADJOURNMENT

Commissioner Nicosia moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:46 p.m. Commissioner Connors seconded the motion and it passed by unanimous vote.
