Old Business – NONE
New Business -
Liquor License, R-1 (6480 E. Riverside): Vito Grisanzio with Capri Restaurant presented his plans for renovating the location and opening the restaurant in stages: kitchen and carryout, then dining area and finally an outdoor area. Gaming may be included but the focus is to re-open the restaurant as soon as practicable. Committee members had a few questions and staff had no objections.
Motion to approve by Ald. Owens, Second by Ald. Little , Vote 4-0
Liquor License, A (6108 N. Second): Wesley Banks presented his plans for building a gaming lounge in the center of the current building (floor plans presented) at the above location. He has opened similar business in Freeport and has never had an issue with prior liquor licensing. The expectation is a full bar at this location but primarily “hand-held” foods for the menu. Concerns were voiced as to operating hours and potential noise/activity, as it is adjacent to residential properties; the petitioner stated those concerns are understood and there was no intent to have outdoor activities or live music, noting any music would be via television monitors in the lounge. He offered no objection to having approval conditions upon such limitations. Staff raised no concerns.
Motion to approve, subject to the conditions that there be no outdoor activities or live music at the business by Ald. Owens , Second by Ald. Schlensker , Vote: 4-0
Public Participation or Comment NONE
Discussion/staff comments Discussion was held concerning the increasing population of gaming establishments through the city and impact on the liquor licensing process; limitations on various licensing was also discussed, and N. Bruck will review and present possible modifications for consideration in the coming months.
