The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association (ISA) has recently revealed its plan to grant more than $58,000 in college scholarships for the upcoming academic year of 2024-25. This long-standing program, which was established in 1979, demonstrates the ISA's unwavering dedication to education and youth development in Illinois. The scholarships are specifically intended to cover various post-secondary expenses, including tuition, books, and fees.
In order to determine the recipients of the ISA scholarships, the county sheriffs of Illinois will oversee the selection process. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications no later than March 15th, after which the sheriffs will carefully review, vote, and tally the winners. During the previous academic year, a remarkable 117 awards were granted by the ISA.
Exciting news accompanies the scholarship program for the 2024-25 academic year: an anonymous memorial donation has made it possible for the ISA to offer an additional $500 to a student who is specializing in criminal justice or law enforcement. This annual award will continue until all of the donated funds have been fully utilized.
The scholarships are open to full-time students who are enrolled in accredited institutions within the state of Illinois, including those who are pursuing their education through online learning platforms. However, it is important to note that applicants must be permanent residents of Illinois and must utilize the scholarship at an institution within the state.
Interested individuals can obtain the scholarship application either from their local county sheriff’s offices or through the ISA website, where a link for applications can be found. Applicants are required to complete the essay question and submit all other necessary documentation to the sheriff’s office in their permanent county of residence by the March 15th deadline.

The ISA's scholarship program has been instrumental in assisting countless students in pursuing their educational goals.
