City of Rockford Planning & Development Committee met Feb. 12.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

I. CALL TO ORDER

II. COMMITTEE REPORTS

1. Approval of a Workforce Development Agreement between the City of Rockford and LT Construction to provide an estimated total of 4,300 hours of workforce development skills and on the job experience to six (6) city-hired summer interns through coordinating the improvement of approximately 40,000 square feet of sidewalk.

III. RESOLUTIONS

1. Approval of Grant application and award acceptance for the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) FY 2023 through FY 2026 Bridge Investment Program (BIP). Grant award would fund improvements to the 15th Avenue Bridge.

2. Approval of Grant application and acceptance of the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Grant through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, for a maximum amount of $150,000. This Grant funds the improvement of urban forests within disadvantaged areas of communities with population of over 75,000 residents to better prepare Illinois urban forests for the 21st century environment.

3. Approval of request to allocate $140,000 for the Forward for Fun Initiative, and an expedited special event permit process for multiple events throughout the city in partnership with Aldermen and the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB). The funding source of the program is the Redevelopment Fund.
