City of Loves Park City Council met Jan. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

 Mayor Gregory Jury called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  

 Alderman Mike Owens opened the meeting with an invocation, followed by the   Pledge of Allegiance.  

Present: Mayor Gregory Jury  

 Aldermen, Mike Owens, John Jacobson (via telephone), Clint Little, Dan Jacobson,   John Pruitt, Jim Thompson, Mark Peterson, Doug Allton (via telephone)  

Absent: Aldermen A. Marie Holmes, Robert Schlensker  

Also Present: Deputy City Clerk Sheila Mills  

 City Attorney Gino Galluzzo  

1. Approve  Minutes  01/02/24  

The Journal of Proceedings for the regular meeting of January 2, 2024, was approved as submitted by the City Clerk on a motion by Alderman Owens. Second by Alderman Little. Motion carried. 7 Ayes (Aldermen Owens, John Jacobson, Little, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Peterson, Allton) 2 Absent (Aldermen Holmes, Schlensker) 1 Present (Alderman Thompson)

2. Public Works  

Mayor Jury thanked the Public Works Department for their work with snow plowing.

3. Snow Plowing  

Alderman Little commented that he has received several comments and calls from residents who were very happy with the snow plowing done by the City.

4. General Fund  Bills  

Alderman Peterson presented the General Fund and all other bills dated January 16, 2024, in the amount of $1,660,670.80, and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Pruitt. Motion carried. 8 Ayes (Aldermen Owens, John Jacobson, Little, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Thompson, Peterson, Allton) 2 Absent (Aldermen Holmes, Schlensker) 

5. Water  Department Bills  

Alderman Peterson presented the Water Department bills dated January 16, 2024, in the amount of $293,707.66, and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Pruitt. Motion carried. 8 Ayes (Aldermen Owens, John Jacobson, Little, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Thompson, Peterson, Allton) 2 Absent (Aldermen Holmes, Schlensker) 

6. Public Safety  Report  

Alderman Dan Jacobson presented the Police Department Report for January 16, 2024; presented the Fire Department Report for January 16, 2024, to be placed on file. He also presented the Loves Park Fire Department Annual Report for 2023, to be placed on file. 

7. Public Works  Report  

Alderman John Jacobson presented the Street Department Reports dated January 16,  2024; presented the Water Department Reports dated January 16, 2024, to be placed on  file.  

8. Finance &  Administrative  Committee  

Alderman Peterson of the Finance and Administration Committee presented the minutes from the committee meeting held on January 2, 2024, to be placed on file.

9. Codes &  Regulations  Committee  

Alderman Thompson of the Codes and Regulations Committee presented the minutes from the committee meeting held on December 18, 2023, to be placed on file. 

10. ORD 4597-24  Liquor License  For 6213 (Unit  B) N. Second  Street  

Alderman Owens presented an ordinance approving the issuance of a Class R-1 Liquor License located at 6213 (Unit B) North Second Street, with the condition that a full wall shall separate Units A and B and a laboratory will be shared by the 2 businesses, and moved for approval. Second by Alderman Thompson. Motion carried. 8 Ayes (Aldermen Owens, John Jacobson, Little, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Thompson, Peterson, Allton) 2 Absent (Aldermen Holmes, Schlensker) 

ORDINANCE NO. 4597-24

11. Adjourn 

Alderman Owens moved that the meeting be adjourned. Second by Alderman Pruitt. Motion carried by voice vote. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
