Representative Joe C. Sosnowski (R) | Illinois General Assembly
State Representative Joe Sosnowski, R-Rockford, responded to Governor JB Pritzker's State of the State Address with strong criticism. Sosnowski expressed his concerns stating, “The Governor’s budget proposal is a multi-point disaster plan that became a campaign speech in favor of President Biden." He further criticized the Governor's budget, highlighting the increase in taxes to cover what he deemed as reckless spending.
Sosnowski pointed out that the Governor's plan lacked provisions for property tax relief for working families or initiatives to attract new residents and job creators to Illinois. He also took issue with what he described as extreme agendas supported by the Governor, such as taxpayer-funded abortions without limits up until birth for individuals from anywhere in the United States, including underage children without parental notification. Additionally, Sosnowski criticized the promotion of what he referred to as "extreme transgender indoctrination of children in schools and funding of surgeries for underage children."
Furthermore, Sosnowski expressed disappointment in the Governor's failure to support the renewal of the Invest in Kids scholarship program, which he claimed denied tens of thousands of children from low-income families across Illinois the opportunity to attend the school of their choice.
Representative Sosnowski represents the 69th District, encompassing parts of Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties.
