Village of Rockton Administration Committee met March 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Danielson called the regular meeting of the Administration Committee to order at 5:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Scott Danielson, Dave Winters and Justin York

Staff present: Dan Barber, Sally Bennett, Tricia Diduch, Chief Hollinger and Deputy Chief Jobst Also present: Jeff Garcea (Garcea Technologies)

Mr. York commented that he would like to clarify in the minutes that since the Village didn’t have cybersecurity before, there will be a perpetual expense for IT every year to maintain this. Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. York to waive the reading of and approve the minutes as amended of March 4, 2024. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Jeff Garcea (Garcea Technologies) spoke to the Committee and presented information regarding a summary of what IT updates have been completed for the Village along with future anticipated expenses. Mr. Garcea discussed what he would like to accomplish in the next two years, what maintenance needs to be completed every year along with what the IT needs are for the years 2024- 2026. Mr. Danielson stated that its very important that we include Mr. Garcea in the budget process for the Village.

MAYOR – JOHN PETERSON

Mayor Peterson stated that the public hearing for the IEPA water supply loan project (Blackhawk Ave. area) is later this evening at 7 pm.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – SCOTT DANIELSON, CHAIRMAN

None.

PUBLIC SAFETY & LEGAL – DAVE WINTERS

Mr. Winters said that the liquor license for Fibs Bar, Inc. is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on March 19, 2024. The Committee was okay with this.

ADMINISTRATION – JUSTIN YORK

None.

THE CHIEF– MATT HOLLINGER

Chief Hollinger advised the Committee that the property next door to Village Hall recently sold and that the police department has been storing the UTV and two police bicycles in the unattached garage on the property. Chief Hollinger stated that the new owner of the property will rent the entire garage to the police department for $300/month. Chief Hollinger added that the new property owner said he would sell the building/property to the Village if they were interested. Chief Holliger stated that he would like to approve the rental agreement for the garage at the next Village Board meeting.

Chief Hollinger said that the police department is still looking into updating their website that expires in July. Chief Hollinger stated that it will cost approximately $2000/year to have their website hosted by Catalis which is the same company that the Village uses for their website.
