City of Carlyle Park Committee met April 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tammy Peters on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 5:45 p.m. at Case Halstead Library located at 550 6th Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. Committee members present included Tammy Peters, John Hodapp, and Jim McClaren. Others present included Jeremy Weh, Bruce Hilmes, Mike Jansen, Scott Diekemper, Ryan Meyer, Jeff Miller, Brad Myers, Mayor Judy Smith, and Martha Reinkensmeyer.

Approval of Minutes

After reviewing the September 25, 2023, minutes, John Hodapp made a motion to approve the minutes. Jim McClaren seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Summer Hires – Part-time, Temporary Employees

The committee was presented with the list of part-time, temporary employees for summer work. After reviewing the list, John Hodapp made a motion to send the list of hires to Council. Tammy Peters seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor. (See the end of the minutes.)

Discuss Pool Manager Position & Stipend

Ryan stated that Heather Taylor has agreed to be the pool manager and the camp coordinator. A discussion was held on the stipend amount. Tammy Peters made a motion to recommend that Council set the stipend for the pool manager/camp coordinator at $8,000.00. John Hodapp seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Approve Fishing Derby Benefit at Fish Hatchery Park on May 5, 2024

Brad stated that he learned of a benefit to be held at the Fish Hatchery Park on May 5, 2024. The people hosting the event paid the reservation fee for the Fish Hatchery but did not let City Hall know that it was using the facility for a benefit. Brad stated that he contacted those hosting the event asking them to provide proof of event insurance. John Hodapp made a motion to recommend that Council approve the fishing derby benefit at Fish Hatchery Park on May 5, 2024. Jim McClaren seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

There was no unfinished business.

New Business

Ryan informed the committee that the cost of lifeguard training has increased, and the location of the training has moved from Centralia Rec Center to the Edwardsville YMCA. Ryan stated that the City reimburses lifeguards for training. After some discussion, it was determined that if a lifeguard leaves before the end of the season, the lifeguard may reimburse the city for any training received. A discussion was then held on the pool mechanical room. New parts, dials, and valves are needed to make it functional. This will cost approximately $13,300.00. The work will be completed the third week of April.

Adjournment

With no further business to discuss, John Hodapp made a motion to adjourn. Jim McClaren seconded the motion. Finding all in favor, the meeting adjourned at 6:02 p.m.
