On May 17, 1955, the phrase "Land of Lincoln" was officially recognized as the state slogan of Illinois. To commemorate this historic event, a visit to Springfield is highly recommended. There are several notable sites dedicated to Abraham Lincoln that visitors should not miss. These include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (illinois.gov), the Lincoln Home National Historic Site (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov), and the Lincoln Tomb – Central Region (illinois.gov). Other must-see attractions are the Abe Lincoln Rail Splitter Statue (enjoyillinois.com) and Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site Site (lincolnsnewsalem.com).
