The City of Rockford is now accepting public comments on local amendments to the proposed Building, Fire, and Construction Codes. The changes include updating the International Building Codes to the 2021 standard with local amendments. The International Building Codes are updated every three years, and the City of Rockford has historically adopted new codes every other code cycle.
"Updated building codes improve the life, health, and safety standards for our citizens," a city representative stated.
Residents can view the changes online at www.rockfordil.gov/buildingcodes2024. Comments may be submitted electronically to BuildingCodeComments@rockfordil.gov by July 12, 2024.
