Residents are now receiving letters about municipal aggregation. The City has selected MC Squared Energy Services, LLC (mc2), a Chicago-based company, to serve eligible residents and small business customers with electric supply services for a 24-month term beginning with the September 2024 ComEd meter read cycle. Enrollment in this program is automatic unless residents opt out.
A few reminders include:
- Residents remain ComEd customers for electricity delivery and metering purposes at their homes or businesses.
- Payments to ComEd continue as usual, with no changes in billing under the City's electric aggregation program.
- ComEd retains responsibility for wires, poles, and all emergencies, including outage restoration.
- There are no enrollment, switching, or early termination fees under the City's electric aggregation program.

For more information, email ElectricAggregation@mc2energyservices.com or call 833-206-3588, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents are encouraged to contact mc2 first before reaching out to the City with any questions. It is important to note that any solicitor who comes to your door or calls asking you to switch suppliers is not associated with the City of Rockford, mc2, or ComEd.
