City of Rockford Community Action Agency Board met June 25.

II. GENERAL INFORMATION

a. Intergovernmental agreement approval between weatherization and RHA. This will allow us to use more of our funding, and potentially apply for additional funds in the future. Will start in October in PY 25.

b. Luther Center, structural fire, brought together a collective group of agencies to make sure that residents were able to receive services.

i. DHS Ensured SNAP Benefits were replenished.

ii. Molina Health provided fresh groceries for residents, working with them to see if they could provide health care items for those who are living in assisted living since they are provided food.

iii. Utilized volunteers to clean out apartments.

c. Overall Community Action changes coming for LIHEAP. There will be discounts for clients based on their income. IACCA will provide basic training, and publications or marking materials.

d. Changes to CCA board members standing to 9 members, have been approved. Will need to update the bylaws.

e. We are in the throws of the Community Needs Assessment. Working to get to 250. Will send it out to the board members for them to send out to their clients.

f. We need to update the strategic planning and mission statement.

g. Questions:

i. Karen Hoffman:

1. How will Low-Income clients be informed about LIHEAP?

a. Unsure how discounts will impact clients, and utilities will not verify income on their end. But we will be a team player.

2. Will we be adding any new members?

a. If people apply we would be open to it.

3. Can we get more training, for the board?

Under Org Standards, we are required to have training. So yes we will be looking at scheduling training. We will look at having online options.

III. OFFICER REPORTS

a. Karen Hoffman

i. Have been working with the mayor to form a task force, to look at mental health resources in the area, and see if there is a way to bring them back to our area.

b. Jeremiah Griffin

i. Bill McKibben environmental activist and author, will be visiting the Rockford area, trying to set up information about community solar.
